Facebook: Treasure Isle Review

Facebook Application/game reviews: Treasure Isle by Zynga

Rating: 6.2 out of 10

-------Overview-------
Treasure Isle is Zynga's brand-new game. It's quite a lot like Treasure Madness mixed with FarmVille and Island Paradise. Comparing it with their other games, such as Cafe World or FarmVille, I find it not as rip-off-ish. That's how Zynga got well-known; other people make a good idea for a game, then Zynga goes and throws a game together in like a month then puts it out as crap, hoping that people will get hooked on it. Treasure Isle IS a rip-off, I'm not ruling that out, but they actually did a pretty good job on the game. It's more advanced than Treasure Madness, but they also added the feature of having your own personal island where you can grow fruits to get more energy.
The downsides, though, are that your energy runs out really quickly, then takes about 12 hours to replenish. The only way that you can get it up is by using REAL money to buy it. But all in all, it's not that bad.
--------Gameplay--------
Dig and hunt for treasures to get XP, decorate your own island and grow fruits.
----------Sound----------
Typical Zynga music

-------Conclusion-------
Treasure Isle to me is Zynga's best game. I recommend it, but not highly.

Wii: Mario Kart Wii Review

Wii Game Reviews: Mario Kart Wii by Nintendo

Rating: 9.6 out of 10

-------Overview-------
Mario Kart Wii, Nintendo's 6th Mario Kart, is definitely the best Nintendo game I've ever played. The graphics are by far the best of any of the Mario Kart games, and with the added tricks, bikes, & wheelies it makes for a fun gaming experience. The Wi-fi connection is also a great additive. I say this, because for me, it's feels like a 600% improvement over the last Wi-fi connection, so I'm kind of ruling that out. I must admit though, that there IS a noticeable amount of lag in it. Sometimes it'll say you're first by a bit, then you finish, and you come out in 2nd or 3rd. Yep, that's lag for you. LOL ;)
What I personally would have liked to see is the ability to change it, offline OR online, to team play or no teams.

--------Gameplay--------
Use the Wii Wheel (or other controllers) to race, with a wide selection of characters, Karts and bikes to choose from.
----------Sound----------
There are so many different songs (some great, some not so great) that I can barely keep track of them all, but I like about 96% of them. ;)

-------Conclusion-------
Mario Kart Wii is probably the best Wii Game I have. I highly recommend it. :)

Facebook: Word Challenge Review

Facebook Application/game reviews: Word Challenge by Playfish

Rating 8.1 out of 10

-------Overview-------
Word Challenge is your basic word game: you have find words out of a 6-letter group of letters (i.e. ofutrh: for, four, fourth). It's almost like any other game like this, but if you play for a while you can unlock different modes of play. I also found that it even IMPROVED my typing skills. I must also admit, I did play for about 2 months, but then started concentrating on other games, but it wasn't necessarily because it got boring. But really, Playfish did the best job that they could of any game like this. It's also a lot of fun when you have 3 seconds left and you've just realized 4 more words. ;)

--------Gameplay--------
Find words out of a scrambled 6 letters, but you can unlock more gameplay modes eventually.
----------Sound----------
The music is great! The designers at Playfish have great taste. LOL ;)
Sorry, I couldn't find the soundtrack/music on YouTube... D:
-------Conclusion-------
All in all, Word Challenge is just another great Facebook game. I recommend it for sure! :)

Facebook: FarmVille Review

Facebook Application/game reviews: FarmVille by Zynga

Rating 2.9 out of 10

-------Overview-------
Well, firstly, I will note some of the good things about this game. The biggest thing that I enjoyed about it was the decorating my farm, there were a lot of items/decorations to choose from. I also enjoyed the aspect of the chicken coops, being able to send and trade different eggs.
Now, for the bad things.
There's so much clicking required and basically you might as well be surfing the web... you just plow, plant, harvest, plow, plant, harvest... you have to do so much clicking that it wears you out. ;)
Another con is that you actually have to PAY using real cash in order to upgrade your farm.
Also, as with all Zynga games that I've played, they're very, VERY pushy about bookmarking, becoming a fan, suggesting to friends etc.

--------Gameplay--------
Decorate your farm, plant and harvest crops, get XP to gain levels.
----------Sound----------
Regular, boring farm music ...

-------Conclusion-------
FarmVille is definitely one of my least favourite Facebook games... I defintely would NOT recommend it to my friends, but a lot of people love it. I played for about 2 weeks, then quit because it was so boring.

Facebook: Restaurant City Review

Facebook Application/game reviews: Restaurant City by Playfish

Rating 9.2 out of 10

-------Overview-------
A couple things that I definitely like about this game are that:
The game itself is very easy to understand, the whole atmosphere when you first start playing is amazing. Also, comparing it with other cooking games (i.e. Café World, Restaurant Life) it's definitely a much better game.
Another thing that I want to point out is when you go outside to view your friends restaurants, the layout of the street is done well, you can scroll back and forth then just click on your friends restaurants to go in. Sometimes there will be problems with the restaurant (i.e. Leaks, Mushrooms in the garden) then you get a boost of coins AND XP (called Gourmet Points (GP) in this game).
And, since it's a social game, the decorations are less a gameplay feature and more something that you can share with your friends.

--------Gameplay--------
Hire friends to fill out your restaurant, and keep it running as efficiently as possible. The more popular your restaurant is, the more money you make. The more money you make, the better you can decorate your restaurant.
---------Sound---------
I LOVE THE MUSIC! The music is so ridiculously fun, and addicting. I find myself cranking the volume up just as the game starts. LOL. ;)

-------Conclusion-------
Restaurant City is definitely the best of the Facebook games I've played. There might be better ones out there, but this is my favourite.
